Questions
Loft Conversion FAQs
Can't find what you're looking for? Call us on the number above — we're happy to help.
Ask a questionHow much head height do I need?
As a rough guide, around 2.2m at the highest point is needed, but we will measure and advise on the best solution for your roof.
How long does a loft conversion take?
Most loft conversions take from six to ten weeks depending on the type and complexity, which we confirm in your project schedule.
What is the difference between a rooflight and a dormer conversion?
A rooflight conversion keeps the roof shape and adds windows into the slope, which is simpler and cheaper where you already have the height. A dormer adds a box-shaped extension to the roof to create more headroom and floor space, which we use when the loft needs more usable room.
Where will the new staircase go?
The stairs usually rise over the existing staircase or from a landing, and finding the best position is part of the design. We work out a layout that gives safe access and loses as little space as possible on the floor below.
Do I need a party wall agreement with my neighbour?
If the work affects a shared wall, a party wall agreement may be needed with the adjoining owner. We will flag this early and explain what is involved so it is sorted in good time and does not hold up the build.
