Questions
Rendering FAQs
Can't find what you're looking for? Call us on the number above — we're happy to help.
Ask a questionHow long does render last?
A properly applied render system can last for decades. Modern silicone renders are self-cleaning and particularly low-maintenance.
Can you render over existing render?
In some cases, yes, provided the existing surface is sound. We will assess it and advise the best approach.
What is the difference between sand-and-cement and silicone render?
Traditional sand-and-cement render is hard-wearing and usually painted, while silicone render is coloured all the way through, flexible and more resistant to cracking and dirt. We will recommend the right one for your wall and how much upkeep you want.
How long does rendering a house take?
A typical house takes from several days to a couple of weeks depending on its size, the access and the system used, plus time for the render to cure. Dry, mild weather helps it set properly, so we plan around the forecast.
Why is my render cracking, and can you fix it?
Cracking often comes from movement, the wrong system for the wall or poor preparation. We find the cause, cut out and repair affected areas or re-render where needed, so the new finish does not simply crack again.
